It's time again to sew with Rae! Spring tops for everyone! Yippee!

I've got my first top completed. Time will tell if there are more, as I'm still trying to get the hang of this life-with-two-kids business. So far, Juniper's a peach who is happy to nuzzle up in the Moby wrap with me while I sew, so this one wasn't too much trouble to put together. It did take a LOT longer than it should have though, as I have to work in short little spurts. Whatever. I'm just happy to be sewing!

So this is what I made:

It's Simplicity 2254, view D, but shortened to top length. I call it the "Swedish Camo" top, because the fabric was what was left after hemming the living room curtains from the mile-long swaths of fabric that Ikea sells to dress windows into curtains of a normal length.

Probably should avoid wearing this in the living room...

This top was easy to put together, and has all sorts of fun details that remind me of some of my favorite RTW garments. I love the fake-button placket on the bodice, the epaulets, and the gathered shoulders. I had to do some tweaking of the fitting to make it feel less maternity-esque, but in the end, I think it's a keeper!
